Synopsis

Lainey Baldwin can’t believe she’s treading water in the Gulf of Mexico. Just a few moments ago, she was safe at home in Kansas City, Kansas. But this damned thing keeps happening to her. And it’s getting worse, because she’s getting further and further away from home every time.

She’s teleporting.

Lainey doesn’t mean to. She doesn’t want to. Hell, if she could figure out how to make it stop, she would! But the only thing she knows so far is that it happens when she’s submerged in water. No one believes her, not even her parents, and her boyfriend supports her but even he doesn’t seem convinced. Everyone else in town whispers about her, and it’s reached the point where the police have gotten involved and she has to see a counselor. All of this while she’s dealing with high school!

Afraid and alone, Lainey will have to find a way to prove what’s happening or put a stop to it soon, because if the anxiety and embarrassment don’t kill her, the next time she teleports out to sea, it might be her last.
